Matt Gaetz
⚠️ All Corruption Flags (3)
On December 23, 2024, the House Committee on Ethics released its report on allegations relating to Rep. Matt Gaetz. The report found SUBSTANTIAL EVIDENCE that Gaetz 'regularly' paid numerous women for sex between 2017 and 2019, had sex with a 17-year-old girl in 2017, and used illicit drugs on multiple occasions during the same period. The report concluded that Gaetz violated state and federal law as well as House rules. The Committee did NOT find that Gaetz violated the federal sex trafficking statute.

The Ethics Committee report further found that Gaetz 'continuously sought to deflect, deter, or mislead the Committee to the point of obstruction' during the investigation. Gaetz filed a lawsuit attempting to block the report's release, arguing he was now a private citizen.
Trump nominated Gaetz for U.S. Attorney General on November 13, 2024. Gaetz withdrew his nomination on November 21, 2024 — 8 days later — ahead of the Ethics Committee's planned vote on whether to release its report. He had already resigned his House seat on November 13, 2024, which ordinarily would have ended the Committee's jurisdiction. The Committee voted in December to release the report anyway.
