On February 22, 2018, a St. Louis grand jury indicted Greitens for felony invasion of privacy related to allegations that he photographed a partially nude woman without consent during an extramarital affair and threatened to release the photo to prevent her from disclosing the affair.
In April 2018, Greitens was separately indicted on a felony count of computer tampering for allegedly using a donor list from the Mission Continues nonprofit (which he co-founded) for political fundraising without authorization.
Greitens resigned as Governor of Missouri on June 1, 2018 amid multiple ongoing investigations. The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's office stated that the prosecutor and Greitens' defense team struck a deal under which Greitens would resign in exchange for the charges being dropped.
